IDW's first Disney comics release was solicited in last week's PREVIEWS: an oversized "Artist's Edition" of the first six chapters of Don Rosa's LIFE AND TIMES OF $CROOGE McDUCK. The price is listed as "$ Please Inquire." I know that something is probably out of my price range when it is priced in the same manner as freshly-caught fish at a fine restaurant.
Still no word on when "regular" IDW Disney offerings might be arriving.
To break from tradition..I wouldn't mind a "Scrooge McDuck" comic book as opposed to an "Uncle Scrooge" comic - I have noticed more people refer to Scrooge as the former rather than the latter and almost never as "Uncle Scrooge McDuck". I would be curious to see where IDW is going to take the ball...
ReplyDeleteWell, Gladstone gave us the most awkwardly-titled comic book ever with the extremely short-lived The Adventurous Uncle Scrooge McDuck. But if IDW wanted to break with tradition like that, I'd want to see a good REASON for it, and it's difficult for me to think of one.
ReplyDeleteCBR,
ReplyDeleteOr, they could go the route of the 1970 musical movie adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and simply call the title "$CROOGE." I think that most comic-book readers would be able to tell WHICH Scrooge that was.
I'm almost tempted to suggest that they also add an exclamation point, but that would probably strike people as a little TOO show-tuney.
Chris
Geo,
ReplyDeleteActually, I think that THE BIGGEST BIG BOOK OF MICKEY MOUSE ought to join TAU$M in Gladstone's Denominational Hall of Shame.
...I think a "Donald Duck's Uncle, $crooge", similar to "Archie's Pal, Jughead" could actually work.
ReplyDelete"Get $crooged!" Sounds like an ad campaign that could've happened if the early years of the DisneyComics era had pprevailed.
