If all goes well, I should finally be able to get rolling on my DuckTales 25th anniversary retrospective with an introductory post either tomorrow or Monday. In the meantime, to wet your whistles -- literally -- here's a banner from an Internet ad with an unexpected DT connection. Don't let those generic duck-mugs fool you -- once I saw how the proprietors of this establishment spelled "DuckTales," the game was up.
This is a lot like those inner-city fried chicken restaurants named after popular dead presidents: Lincoln and Kennedy. I recall an "Obama Chicken" was running for a few months before a name changed was ordered.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the place serves...not ponytails or cottontails..
CBRehab,
ReplyDeleteI honestly have never seen any such "presidentially-themed" establishment. I DO, however, recall that, not so long ago, some supermarket or restaurant chain had a fried chicken special to celebrate Black History Month.

They're a common sight in NYC, especially upper Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. I believe they began as Knock-offs of Kentucky Fried Chicken, but then the use of "Lincoln" abandoned the gimmick of using the same initials. They're terrible. They make Popeye's Chicken look upscale - and that place no longer uses Popeye's likeness anymore!
