I'm not sure whether the trade paperback version of the collected DUCKTALES: RIGHTFUL OWNERS has actually been released yet, but I have been informed by occasional commenter Comicbookrehab that ONE of the notorious pages from DUCKTALES #3 was redrawn for the reissue. Specifically, it's the page in which Gladstone stares goonily into space and John D. Rockerduck appears to be talking to thin air. The redraw (and, no, I don't know who did it) is actually a little dicey in and of itself. The eyes of Gladstone, Webby, and Cinnamon Teal in several panels look... strange. I can understand this insofar as Cinnamon goes -- she is a hypnotist, after all -- but, in the first shot of Gladstone in his car, the gander looks to be under the influence of something rather stronger than Gurgleurp Cola.
I shouldn't complain too much, however. After all, I think that I bear a good share of the responsibility for making this change happen in the first place.

The redraw at least shows an attempt at a more interesting page to look at, but it does have that "coloring book pages" look that kept popping in and out of those 4 issues.
Maybe next time, Leonel Castellani will be available to draw the whole thing - the 1st ten pages of issue #1 had the best art.
Definitely been released--my copy just came today. I'm pretty sure I'll be indifferent to it at best, but I feel a morbid need to own all of Boom's Disney detritus.

Strange... Amazon listed the release date as sometime in February. Maybe I'll see it at the shop this week.

If I remember correctly, at this point in the story, Gladstone was under hypnosis. I don't recall anything about that being the case for Daisy and Webby, though...
It's possible BOOM! had always intended to give this page an "upgrade" in the trade, and the earlier version was sort of a placeholder to meet #3's deadline. (I believe it's street date was pushed back once or twice...or was that only #4?)
Still, one way or the other, I'm pretty sure the hubbub that Chris inadvertently started with his review of #3 made sure that the redrawing happened! As I started reading this post, I was jokingly thinking some sort of "power to the people" mantra was called for. ("Yes we can! Yes we can!", etc.? ...sorry, Chris! Not that I'm thrilled with Obama at this...but wait, we're talking Duck comics, not poitics!) :) But Chris wasn't just one of the numerous Internet commentators that comprised "the people" -- he spearheaded the whole thing (though not intentionally -- he was doing what he always does, reviewing the latest issue of an American Duck comic! -- and maybe just a bit reluctantly!)

I don’t – an’ I worked for ‘em! …To me, it ended with WDC&S #720.
And it won’t start again until we have WDC&S, UNCLE SCROOGE, DONALD DUCK, and MICKEY MOUSE back – regardless of whatever else they (…whoever “they” turn out to be) decide to publish.
Disney Afternoon, Pixar, Muppets, Princesses, this month’s movie adaptation and whatever else are “nice-to-haves”, but It’s not a TRUE line of Disney comic books without the “Core Four Titles” – and sometimes both publishers and fans alike seem to forget that!

I admire your convictions there, Joe! And I agree with you that Disney Afternoon stuff is kind of beside the point--but hell, at least it's tangentially related to the classic stuff, and who KNOWS when we'll get any more of that so what the hell...I'm grasping at straws here, man! Gimme a break!

So strange Chris....I wonder why they put out two versions. Either way, I finally finished reading it as a whole. It seemed to have gone on forever, but maybe that's just me. Too much dialogue on one page I was finding...
And to think, I turned down the opportunity to draw this series!
