Imagine what one could do by projecting out the vaguely 1930s era of the TV series to that "universe"'s equivalent of the WWII era. (Some fans started to do this with the TALE SPIN: HIGH FLIGHT fanfic series a number of years ago.) But it would take a very far-sighted and committed creator to recognize what could be done. DARKWING, by contrast, is solidly in the "funny hero" tradition and thus probably a bit easier to craft stories for. (Though the Marvel DISNEY AFTERNOON title took that to extremes -- by the title's end, it was a DARKWING title in all but name, with precious little material based on the earlier series.)

ChrisChris Barathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06845538037091279990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357793224370188597.post-3716741497245801742010-07-02T12:15:33.697-04:002010-07-02T12:15:33.697-04:00True, but considerng Boom also puts out Wall-E and...True, but considerng Boom also puts out Wall-E and Finding Nemo comics...? I mean, seriously, how much mileage can you get out of those characters? They were created to tell a single story -- the movie they starred in.

I think TaleSpin could work, and there's always room for action/adventure stories. I mean, most of Scrooge's and Mickey's tales are in the same vein...?

But yeah... the direct market is for superhero books. Darkwing was a no brainer.

(Did I spell it TAIL Spin in a previous post? I did! TALE SPIN was arguably the better TV series, but DARKWING is more recognizable to the "average" comics reader as a "funny hero" mag, thus would be more like to pull in the curious.

ChrisChris Barathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06845538037091279990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357793224370188597.post-70131106544298947602010-07-01T14:06:34.721-04:002010-07-01T14:06:34.721-04:00I have no doubt Darkwing will pull some good numbe...I have no doubt Darkwing will pull some good numbers when Diamond releases their Top 300 list in a few weeks.

So I have to wonder... how long until they announce a TailSpin series...?Kneon Transitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08321055320685438332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357793224370188597.post-48957187502824137692010-07-01T00:29:27.286-04:002010-07-01T00:29:27.286-04:00I just saw this tonight. The climax was so intense I could barely breathe, and I LOVED the fact that there was a plush Totoro.

Also, I thought Night and Day was super-awesome--I'd be more than willing to call it Pixar's best.GeoX, one of the GeoX boys.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14658452994152399308noreply@blogger.com
