The next movie on our queue is GRAND HOTEL. ...Joe,

The next movie on our queue is GRAND HOTEL. I'll have to see if that one has interesting extras.

ChrisChris Barathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06845538037091279990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4357793224370188597.post-61526738272220059482009-08-26T19:42:25.818-04:002009-08-26T19:42:25.818-04:00Chris:
Only you could preface a review of “Sunset...Chris:

Only you could preface a review of “Sunset Boulevard” with a still from DuckTales’ “Uncrashable Hindentanic”! Bravo, and yay for you!

Your interest in Classic Film seems to be new, interesting and very “Blog-able” – and one that curiously didn’t manifest for either of us in the past. You’d think it would have been a natural for us – and still isn’t quite there for me vs. Classic Television, which benefited from a lifetime of repeated viewings.

This year, though, I HAVE purchased and very much enjoyed the deluxe box sets of both “Casablanca” and “The Maltese Falcon”, in my view two of the greatest films of all time.

Consider the number of iconic portrayals to come from these films. Oddly, even more so for the lesser-regarded “The Maltese Falcon” which influenced even Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers and more comics and animated product than I could list here!

Continue doing those reviews – and maybe consider reviewing the DVD as a whole, along with the film. The extras and commentaries for “Casablanca” and “The Maltese Falcon” – as well as those for the original “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (…mentioning it’s influence – certainly score-wise – on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Lost In Space) are invaluable additions to the experience of the film itself.

Joe.Joe Torciviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00421096229407174474noreply@blogger.com
