Bonkers AND the sadly underused
Fawn Deer. I still wish that the
Bonkers production crew had stuck it out with Miranda Wright as Bonkers' partner. The cast of Bonkers' friends and foes in the Wright eps -- some of whom can be seen in silhouette on the wall in
Shelley Pleger's illo -- held at least as much potential as the Toons that were introduced when Lucky Piquel entered the show.

Both eras of the show had their good and bad - the Piquel episodes placed too much emphasis on Lucky under stress, but had a good frenetic pace to it, while the Miranda Wright episodes seemed to show Bonkers as being more "accepted" as a police officer among humans and the toon cameos were more frequent and fun to spot, but the scripts lacked spontaneity and Sergeant Grating was...Grating. It's overshadowed by "Animaniacs" and "Pinky and The Brain", but it's not bad.
And I DO wish they had Miranda appear in more episodes during the Piquel era, rather than the two establishing episodes; I like how the Disney Adventures comic strips from that time would do so, even if it clearly took place in a parallel universe continuity.
I prefer the Lucky episodes, mainly for the stronger Bonkers design and the incredible WDTA-Australia animation. The Miranda episodes didn't even compare.

Somehow, I don't think that the Lucky-Miranda argument is going to echo down through the years in the manner of the Kirk-Picard controversy.
